turmeric dressing (AIP)

February 25, 2016 by whatannabelcooks 4 Comments

turmeric dressingI came across this recipe on a Facebook thread  and it intrigued me because I am often looking for a new dressing and ways to include turmeric for it’s anti-inflammatory properties.  Works a bit like mayo!

Original recipe is found here at Mind Body Green

  • 4 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • Juice + zest of 2 Lemons
  • ¼ avocado
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. ground turmeric (I used about 1/2 a fresh one)
  • 1 Tbsp. raw local honey
  • pinch of Himalayan sea salt (to taste)

Blend all ingredients in a blender.

Hi Annabel. This sounds like a delicious dressing and I plan to try it. Just a thought re the salt. I have been wondering about the actual benefits of Himalayan rock salt after reading that there is no difference between it and other salts. Also is it ethically produced? I have also read that Himalayan salt is mined by underage workers, ie children. I think that we should consider our local domestic market such as the Murray River salt. Mehta are your thoughts? Anna

      Hi Anna,
I haven’t read anything about either of those issues you raise about salt, feel free to send me an article or 2 & I’ll have a look. I remember trying Murray River Salt a number of years ago and not really liking it (can’t remember why!) but perhaps I should give it another go. Is that what you use?

This looks delicious. I am not a fan of turmeric but I am willing to try this. I might not only use this as a dressing but as a dip as well. Thanks for sharing this!
